Dr. Carol Matthews is the founder of Bestowing Hope Ministries. She has served in various ministries for more than thirty five years. Over the years, God has worked through her as a volunteer with a heart for those with spiritual needs, whom she invites into the fold of believers. With the leading of the Holy Spirit, in 2011, Carol began an outreach ministry, which has expanded beyond its original intent. As the Holy Spirit continued speaking to her, Carol realized she needed to formalize the ministry to raise funds to help fulfill her vision. Subsequently, she applied to the Internal Revenue Service to become a nonprofit and praises God for their rapid approval in 2017.
After years of desiring to grow deeper in her understanding of God’s word and fulfill her heart's desire for more than twenty years, in 2014, Carol applied and was accepted to Bible college. In 2016, Carol earned a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministry and Leadership from Pacific Christian College of Ministry and Biblical Studies of Hope International University in Fullerton, CA. As a believer in lifelong learning, Carol inspires change, growth, and self-improvement by continually learning and growing in every area of her life. She concurs with Nelson Mandela, that "Education is [one of] the most powerful weapon[s] which you can use to change the world"; yet it is not more powerful than the Word of God; which changes the lives of those who seek Him.
In addition to serving her church family, Carol served as a volunteer in the California Institution for Women (CIW) leading Bible studies and life skills training from 2017 until the COVID-19 pandemic. As the need arises, she serves bereaving families. Next to serving the Lord, her greatest joy is her family.
